Just south of the border of Evanston and Chicago there are remnants of a broken pier... I think.
Actually, I've often wondered what possible use these things could have actually served. For all I know each of these ice clad vertical wooden beams is an alien cocoon ready to hatch evil cold weather runner eating monster.
But mostly, I just thought they looked cool.
